Find A Job

Be realistic. Be honest with yourself when searching for a job. Your time is precious, and you shouldn't spend that time applying for a job that is entirely out of the range of possibility. It's okay to apply for a job where you don't meet ALL the qualifications, but an employer is not going to consider your resume if you apply for a job that requires 8 years of experience when you have none.

Make finding a job your job. Plan out your daily schedule and include time for working on cover letters and resumes, searching and applying for jobs, and following up on your applications. If you want to land this job, you need to put in the effort.

Avoid common mistakes. Check your applications before you submit them! Employers cite spelling and grammar issues on applications as the number one mistake applicants make. Review your resume and cover letter more than once. Make sure to double check all of your contact information. Submit your work using our contact box and we'll proofread them for you! You don't want your hard work to go to waste because of a simple mistake!

Use your resources. You don't have to do this by yourself. The people around you may know of job openings you hadn't heard of, or be able to put you in contact with others who could help. The internet is also at your disposal. You have already started using an important part of your resources by being here, at Ascend, but there are a wide variety of sites available to help you in your job search.
